How to add a Preorder Button to your Shopify Store
If a product on your Shopify store has no stock, you either have yet to launch it or have already sold out (congrats if that's you!). Either way, you might miss out on potential sales because your customers cannot order the product. A preorder option is highly recommended, as it improves your cash flows and gauges potential actual demand.
You can either use this link or search Timesact on the Shopify App Store:
This step will allow the Timesact app to display changes to your store's pages. Without it, none of the settings in the app will work, so please ensure it's enabled. Make sure to hit save in the top right corner. We toggle it on by default when you hit enable.
And don't worry; you have a step-by-step guide in the app dashboard that you can return to any time to find the app block enabled and the next steps.
Click the Add Products button in the Products tab on the top right corner.
You can select by individual variant, collection, product tag, or vendor attributes.
When you've selected products you wish to add, hit the Next/Add button on the top right corner.
Or on the bottom right corner.
Remember you can also automate this process completely by using Tag Automations.
In the following screen, you can set things like how the app should manage stock, preorder quantity limits, and a start and end date for your preorder campaign.
If these are not relevant to you just stick with the defaults and proceed to Step 4.
You can select an existing template, the global default template already created for you when you install the app, or one you have previously made in the Settings - Templates tab.
Alternatively, you can create a new custom template using the Settings - Templates tab. Then, return to the products tab to add products and select the template you've made.
On a template, you can set a preorder: 1. Button (Copy of your regular Add to Cart button or customized), 2. Message (Plain text or text with dynamic variables like the quantity left on preorder), 3. Badge (Product page & Collection page) & 4 Cart Label (Plain text or text with dynamic variables like the product shipping date, Mixed cart pop-up alerts).
Here, you have the option to create an entirely new selling plan during the product-adding process itself.
Or you have the option to select a selling plan you have already set up in the Settings - Selling Plans tab in the app.
On a selling plan, you can set the following: 1. Plan Name, 2. Selling Plan Name, 3. Selling Plan Description, 4. Shipping Date, 5. Billing Policy (Full Payment or Partial Payment), 6. Discount & 7. Inventory policy
When you are done creating or selecting the selling plan you want, you just need to hit the green Save button in the bottom right corner at the bottom of the page.
Remember to check out the product page customer experience, whether by navigating directly from your site to the given product or by hitting the eye icon in the Products tab list on the right side.
