Notifications Overview
Everything Timesact can send to your customers: what sets off each message, the three channels you can send through, and where to set each one up. You pick the channel per feature, inside each customer experience template, so different products can be handled differently.
The messages Timesact can send
- Back in stock, subscribed — a shopper submits the Notify Me form. Goes to that shopper (a confirmation).
- Back in stock, ready — a variant someone signed up for is restocked. Goes to each waiting subscriber, once each.
- Pre-order confirmed — a customer places an order that contains a pre-order item. Goes to that customer.
- Pre-order shipping delay — you send this one yourself from Analytics → Preorder Notification & Email Performance → Shipping delay (select the orders, then Send shipping delay emails). Goes to each affected customer.
The three channels
You send through one of three channels, and each has its own setup guide:
- Built-in — Timesact sends the emails for you, using templates you edit right in the app. Best when you do not have a marketing platform yet. See Notifications - Built in
- Shopify Flow — Timesact hands off to Shopify Flow, where you build the email (or any other action). Best when you already automate things in Flow. See Notifications - Shopify Flow
- Klaviyo — Timesact sends the events to Klaviyo, and your Klaviyo flows take it from there. Best when you run your emails in Klaviyo. See Notifications - Klaviyo
Which channels each feature can use:
- Pre-order: Built-in or Klaviyo.

- Back in stock: Built-in, Shopify Flow, or Klaviyo.

Shopify Flow is currently available for back-in-stock only, which is why it does not appear on the Pre-Order tab.
Choosing a channel
Inside a customer experience template, open Notifications (left menu, under Admin). There is a tab per feature (Pre-Order, Back in Stock, Coming Soon). On each tab, pick the channel:
- Built-in — no extra setup, emails send automatically.
- Shopify Flow — (Back in Stock only) hands off to your Flow instead of sending built-in emails.
- Klaviyo — sends the events to Klaviyo. When you pick it, an Available events panel shows exactly which events that feature sends (for example "Preorder Confirmed" on Pre-Order, or "Back in Stock Subscribed" and "Back in Stock Ready" on Back in Stock), which you then use as triggers in your Klaviyo flows.
The choice is made per feature, in each customer experience template, and they are independent: one customer experience template can use Klaviyo while another uses built-in.
FAQ
Can I use more than one channel at once? No, it is one channel per feature, in each customer experience template. If you want both an internal action and Klaviyo, route to Klaviyo and add the action inside your Klaviyo flow.
Will switching channels double-email customers? No. Anything already sent is not sent again, switching only affects future messages.
How do I test before going live? Built-in has a Send Test button on each template, and Flow and Klaviyo have their own preview and test tools.
