Tag Automation in V2
Tag automation attaches products to a customer experience template automatically, using a Shopify tag, so you do not have to pick them one by one. For adding products by hand, see Adding Products
What it does
You choose a tag. Any product in Shopify carrying that tag is added to this customer experience template on its own, and removing the tag in Shopify removes that product from the template again. There is no manual selection to keep on top of.
It is the hands-off alternative to picking products from the Products page. It is worth using when a campaign's line-up changes often, or when the people managing products in Shopify are not the same people managing Timesact.
Setting it up
- Open Experiences and open your customer experience template.
- In the left menu, under Admin, click Tag automation. It is the last item, below Notifications.
- Type your tag into the Automation tag field and save it.
- Then add that same tag to your products in Shopify.
Save the tag in Timesact first, before tagging anything in Shopify. That is the order the setup expects, and the screen says so too.
Three things worth knowing
Tag matching is case-sensitive. Summer-Drop and summer-drop are two different tags, so pick one spelling and keep to it.
Use a new tag rather than one you already use for something else. If products already carry the tag you choose, they will be picked up automatically the next time they are updated in Shopify.
Products you added by hand always win. Adding or editing a product manually pins it to the customer experience template, and after that, changing or removing its Shopify tag will not detach it. The screen says the same thing at the top, and it is deliberate, so a bulk tag change cannot quietly undo something you set up on purpose.
Changing the tag later
Changing the tag only affects products added from that point on. Products already attached stay attached, and removing their old tag in Shopify will not detach them. To take those products out, remove them by hand from the Products page.
