The add-on, Alerts and Slack

The add-on is an optional extra you can put on top of any plan. It unlocks Hide Sold Out and alerts, and you can also buy it on its own.

What you get

  • Hide sold-out products, covered in Hide Sold Out.
  • Alerts by email and Slack, so Timesact tells you when something happens in your store.

Adding it

Open Billing & Account. On the add-on card, click Add add-on, then approve the charge in Shopify as you would for any plan change. To remove it later, use Remove add-on on the same card.

Alerts

Alerts are messages to you and your team, not to your customers. They are how you hear about something without having to watch the app.

There are three things Timesact can alert you about:

Alert

Sent when

Pre-order created

A new pre-order comes in

Back in stock subscriber created

A customer signs up to be told an item is back

Variant sold out

Timesact sees a variant sell out

How often they arrive

For Pre-order created and Back in stock subscriber created you choose how often:

  • Instant, an alert as soon as it happens.
  • Daily digest, one message a day with everything grouped together.
  • Weekly digest, the same but once a week.

Variant sold out is sent as it happens.

Where they go

Each alert can go to email, to Slack, or both:

  • Built-in email — Timesact sends it. Enter the addresses you want it to reach, separating several with commas or new lines.
  • Slack channel — connect Slack, then choose the channel the alert should post to.

You reach the alert settings from the Alerts button in the top right of the Hide Sold Out report, under Analytics, Sold-out products, Overview.

Two different kinds of Slack message

The app has two Slack connections and they do different jobs, so it is worth knowing which one you are looking at:

  • These alerts, about pre-orders, back-in-stock sign-ups and sold-out variants. They come with the add-on, and you set them up from the Alerts button on the Hide Sold Out report.
  • Subscription alerts, which tell you about your plan usage and limits. You connect those under Billing & Account, on the Integrations tab, on the Slack card under Subscription alerts. They are not part of the add-on and they say nothing about your orders.

The same Integrations tab also holds the Klaviyo connection, which is a third, separate thing again, covered in Notifications - Klaviyo.
